Yosemite in March

My classmates Vic, Greg, Jason, Kristina, her friend, May, and I took a 3-day trip to Yosemite during our spring break. I enjoy traveling with them because every one is fun and talkative.
Most of all, we all like adventure. In order to see the Yosemite Falls on the 2nd day, we walked along the river and jumped through the rocks besides it. To pass the river, our shoes and socks even got wet! Because the temperature is still low in the mountains (the river is still partly icy) the water is so freezing that we will never forget when we put our feet into the river.

1st Day. Cloudy - On the Way North
It's scenic on the 99 and 41 highway.
This wooden house besides the road caught my eyes. The colorful painting based on the patterns of the US's national flag stands out of the green grass.

Cloudy but bright sky:

I like this picture best. The red-colored car enriches the colorfulness of this picture.

Other pictures taken on the way to Yosemite:

After around 6-hour drive we finally arrived our lodge - Yosemite Village. Here we can see Yosemite Fall -- the highest fall in Yosemite -- from our lodge. (So the price is high >.< $200 per day for 4 ppl., but we have 7 ppl. to share :p)

We started our first sight-seeing in the late afternoon. First stop is the Bridalveil Fall, in the trail of 15 minutes walk (but we wasted lots of time finding the correct way.)
Oh before showing the fall, I have to show what I am proud of -- the beautiful river downstream the Bridalveil Fall, taken in 1/3 second of exposure without tripods.

Then, we arrived the Bridalveil Fall

Amazingly we saw two rainbows. Yosemite never refuses to show you its beauty at each fall.

Peace and scenic place at sunset:

2st Day. Sunny- Trail exploring
We arrived these place on the 2nd day:
1. Yosemite Falls
2. Vernal Fall
3. Mirror Lake

Yosemite Falls
Described in Wikipedia, Yosemite Falls is the highest water fall in north America. The reason why it is named Fall"s" is that this fall contains 2 falls -- upper & lower.
It's pity that I couldn't find a good view to take the 2 falls in one picture. Here is the upper fall:

We can see the ice besides the fall. The river is partly frozen too. Ice is everywhere on the top of the water:

Out of curiosity we didn't walk to the fall along the trail opened to visitors, but we headed to the fall along the basin of the river(fortunately the river didn't have much water in spring.)

We saw the lower fall closely at the destination:

Vernal Fall
Vernal Fall is on the Mist Trail near Curly Village in Yosemite Park.

Amazingly, there were 2 snow men -- no, a snowman and a snow animal -- besides the road:

How could they do it?

Happy Isles, everybody is happy~

This notice board says: "Bears may try to share your lunch."
Interesting language.

When we were close to the fall, a ranger told us it was closed because of the safety concern. So sad:

Before we decided to turn back, we saw many people neglect and passed the sign. So we followed up~
The trail really had a dangerous section, but we passed it just paying a little more attention at our steps.

Very steep path.

The fall:

Another rain

Mirror Lake

In the way back we saw many animals we have never seen before:

And suddenly a deer walked through the road in front of my car!

At night:

3rd Day. Sunny - Retrun

Yes. We lived in the Yosemite village. The rooms are usually full but we were lucky to book one room around 3 days before. As summer vacation's coming it will be harder to book a room. Just call and ask for vacancy. Good luck and have a good time in Yosemite!
